Italian marble

Marbles are quarried in many countries around the world such as Greece, USA, India, Spain, Romania, China, Sweden and Germany. However, the marble from Italy is considered to be the most high-grade and luxurious marble available. Being steeped in heritage it was popular during the Renaissance era where artists including Michelangelo and Donatello, used marble like calacatta and statuario to create some of the world’s most iconic works of art. Due to the stone working heritage of the Italian people, it is the most superior quality of marble. The ancient Italians were pioneers in perfecting quarrying methods in ancient times, many of which are still used to this day.
