SMS as an experimental stage of message sent via computer The growth of SMS (Short Message Service) technology appears to have happened more quickly between the years of 1993 and 1999 as the technology itself was advancing. As the first SMS was sent in December of 1992 with the message of “Merry Christmas,” January of 1993 marked the sending of SMS on behalf of computers.
